Windstream Announces Layoffs
3% of workforce to offset landline losses

According to an announcement by DSL provider Windstream Communications (see our user reviews here), the company will be laying off roughly 5% of their workforce (350 out of 7,100 jobs) in order to "offset revenue pressure in the residential voice business." In other words Windstream, like larger telco Verizon, is making cuts to help counter the continuing death of the copper landline. The company, originally spun off from Alltel Communications (now part of Verizon), passed the one million broadband subscriber mark last Spring.

Re: corporate playbook

Capitalism is based on private controlled goods and people trading based on a free market. It has nothing to do with out of control executive pay which actually borders more towards a communist method of economy then capitalism.

Communist method of economy has wealth distribution and intentional inefficiency/busy work.

Banana republic or feudalism is more like it. Gather the capital, enslave the labor, collect the spread, use army/police to enforce your rule. Concentration of capital, Marx was right.

But that's the point. You've never had a real communist country, they've all been banana republics or feuds
