.....to try and sell me this. Doesn't matter how many times you say no, they keep trying.

Of course, not for existing customers.
Standard introductory sales ploy - not for existing customers.
Probably works best if you're in a market served by 2 or more equivalent providers.
The switch back and forth, just after the "introductory" pricing ends? And sign up for a competitor's introductory deal?
If so, get a personal / vanity web domain and use that for your email address, so you don't have to have a vendor linked new email address every year. www.1and1.com, for one, provides domain name leasing with 1 email account for $6 / year.

for $99.00, it's a deal
But usually only for 3-6 months. Afterwards, that 'savings' evaporates to a $250.00 a month bill. That means in a full year, you'll be paying comcast over $3,000.00. That's an awful lot of money for 150 channels of crap, capped internet, and dodgy voip service.
I'd pass...

Not sure where you do your math but i pay 170 a month for all 3 now and for doggy VOIP you must be talking about Vonage because my CDV works so much better.have you had CDV? i bet not.

I pay Echostar $43 a month, Comcast $58 and Vonage $31, for a total of $132. Each one of these providers needs to earn my money each and every month, or I'll switch. Why would I want lock myself into a single provider for all 3 and pay more?

Comcast is on a roll..
I have all three and very happy with the service. I have noticed that over the year the service has been getting a lot better. I have a great signal, clear picture, a "Superfast" internet connection and great phone service. Also here in Lancaster we now have Power boost or Burst on both upload and download. So for now I have no beef with Comcast, but still wish everyday I had FiOS!! Verizon ROCKS! Have a good day ALL!

My Comcast Triple Play is $146.00 + PPV - Thats the Digi 2000 package (Standard + Two Premiums (I picked SHO and HBO since that adds 3 additonal HDTV channels)), HSI (6/384), Digital Phone (Seperate bandwidth from HSI). That includes the SA 8300HD HDTV Box and HDTV Premium Tier. As Memphis just recently switched from Time Warner to Comcast there has been some channel changeups in the HDTV Premium Tier but so far Im happy with the service and one bill to pay.

Once I get my little wiring project done in my house, it will make it much easier to swith providers.
The main problem is that they can call me because I have a relationship with them and even if I were to cancel, they can still call for up to 18 months after.

You can opt out of their marketing calls. Each time they call tell them to put you on their do not call list. Then, on the third call after that file a complaint with the FTC/FCC site. That generally gets their attention.

call comcast and ask them to mark your account non-solicitation if comcast is calling it will stop it does take a couple weeks at the most so they contact the telemarketers to remove you from callback list. had it done to mine, have them make it no contact at all and you will stop getting the mailers as well.

yeah, the cable voip's tend to work better, in my opinion. You never see me post about outages, just TWC in general, occasionally. I kinda like the VoIP w/the matching internet service. :)

Just get a domain - $10/yr from GoDaddy
and then www.hagenhosting.com - $3.95/mo:
* 110 GB disk space
* 1,100 GB monthly bandwidth
* 500 POP3 e-mails
* Pre-installed scripts
* Basic Spam Control tool
You get a real web presence and site.
100% Linux (unlike 1x1 who uses a lot of Windows), rock solid for me for the past 5 years, and a great value.
Now I'm never at the mercy of an ISP. Best thinf I've done.

Ummm, just to be clear: 1and1 offers either Linux or Windows hosting with similar pricing for either, depending on what your requirements are.

I agree - separate VOIP is still a techie market. While I haven't had any problems with my provider in 18 months, my troubleshooting skills are probably better than your average subscriber. :)
If I were a cable company or even the local carriers, my marketing strategy would be "It just works, and when it doesn't, we'll figure it out."

The DNC law has a provision where you can ask a business that you have a relationship with to only call you for non marketing purposes. That is one thing I always specify when opening an account with any business.

Re: for $99.00, it's a deal
1. The $99.00 bundle for standard+chsi+voip is for 12 months not 3-6
2. That cost breaks into approx. $125/month not including any possible digital packages. Even with all premiums a dvr and 2 digital boxes it still doesnt hit $250/month
From your posts I can hazard a guess that comcast is not your favorite company. But at least toss out some semi accurate numbers in posts about how bad comcast is and how the savings isnt really a savings.

Re: Of course, not for existing customers.
Umm, existing customers can take advantage of the triple play $99/mo pricing. Just call in, hit the buttons to cancel your service, and then tell the CSR that you're calling to see how long you need to tell them before you cancel your service because you're switching to Verizon. If they're REALLY dense, ask them if there are any retention promotions going on.
Rinse and repeat 1 mo after the "promotional" pricing runs out. Been doing this for years..

YES, I think the techies actually enjoy the challenge of trying to figure out what is wrong when the service goes down. :) Too much drama for me. I would wind up going back to POTS or using my cell phone exclusively if I ran into service issues w/indy VoIP's or Digital Phone.
Good marketing strategy, though, Verizon would have a fit. They would now sue for using their marketing strategies - there're always on commercials - I think they are hillarious. :D :D :D

You know, yeah comcast takes 1.7 million telephone lines from all telcos combined, I imagine since they are claiming to offer telephone service they must be required to offer (ULS) Universal Lifeline which costs $5 a month, meanwhile FIOS, U-Verse takes Video Customer away from cable with monthly cost of $60 - $150, not hard to see who is going to make out here ;)
