802.11n WiFi coming to smartphones
1st Broadcom & now Atheros have built 802.11n chips for use in smartphones. I suspect the next wave of releases of new and updated smartphones will be using them starting next year.
»tech.yahoo.com/news/zd/20091102/tc_zd/245609
On Monday, Atheros announced its AR6003 chip, an 802.11n/Bluetooth radio designed for smartphones and other portable devices.
Atheros is not the first to claim an 802.11n chip for smartphones; Broadcom announced its BCM4329 months ago, and said it should begin shipping this quarter. Atheros will begin shipping its AR6003 in volume during the second quarter of 2010, giving Broadcom a substantial lead.
However, an Atheros spokesman claimed that its chip would offer dramatic power savings compared to its predecessor and the competition.
The AR6003 achieves up to 48 Mbits/s in the 2.4-GHz band in 20 MHz mode, and 85 Mbits/s in 5 GHz in 40 MHz mode.

Verizon unleashing a torrent of smartphones before year end
»www.boygeniusreport.com/2009/11/···e-crown/
Apparently if the DROID launch/sales go really well, (it probably will) Verizon will push up handset releases and practically aim for the smartphone crown. Were talking HTC Passion, Motorola Calgary, Curve2, etc.
Could all four Android devices really launch on Verizon before the end of the year, or really close to it? Plus a couple BlackBerrys, and some other stuff that hasnt surfaced yet?
UPDATE: Weve also been told that Verizon will release 15 new phones, mostly smartphones, starting with the BlackBerry Storm2 and continuing into the end of December.
Verizon criticized for not having smartphones with app stores has them pushing hard to rectify that for the XMAS seasonal sales.

Filesharers are the music industry's best customers
:) The Music Industry has always been against home recording regardless of media type. Copyright holders are not smart enough to realize that most file shares care about the quality of their music and will buy content on a higher quality media if they like the tune.
What the music moguls forget is that consumers realize that there times when they want to move the content to a different media than the media it was purchased on. Like moving content from a Music CD to an MP3 Player.
Add Digital Rights Management that will prevent format conversion and customers will turn their back on the format. Look at Super Audio Compact Disc or High Definition Compact Disc. Consumers do not like to get jerked around by greedy corporations. If the Music Industry were Fred and Fred went to a Psychiatrist he would probably be diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenia and would be institutionalized. Consumers like the ability to create their own mixes containing their favorite tracks. If the music industry had it's way all content would be delivered in the equivalent of a locked box and the consumer would not be provided with a key.

Mpaa urges fcc to let industry serve as content cops
Ok, take all the content off the internet and have it be a controlled medium, sounds a lot like cable tv, doesn't it? I mean that is really what the media companies really want IMO. People need to send letters to the fcc and fight this.

Once again, they argue that P2P means Pirate
The NCTA and NBCU are saying in effect that they must be able to block P2P to combat piracy.
That would be like me arguing I must jam the airwaves to prevent people from thought pollution from watching their "content".

yea lets 1st enact ACTA without any democratic means , hten lets do away with all the parliaments and let corporations rule us.
THE statement is very close to treason is it not, undermining the democracy of the country?
Sounds to me like the MPAA should be very careful what its asking for.

pirate ? SO fraking what , im sick of them there interferance and threats SUE ME if you htink ive done something wrong.
FACT is they target the weak minded , poor and those with no utter knowledge of law.
When you do show that they stay away cause they themselves are so ignorant of democracy and law that they fail too quickly.
if this were said in WW2 they'd a been brought up on treason , its not there job to tell legislators OR a democratically run country of any kind how to govern themselves.
AND i think that what we should be asking for in all democratic countries is MORE intense lobbying ( bribing laws) to curtail this greed mongering that is going on at an unprecedented level. LIKE OMG every politician in the usa has taken these bribes EVERY and obama instead took Joe hollywood biden and put his hollywood guys in charge of the justice dept.
I am beginning to think form a canadain perspective that maccain would have been better as his focus was on iraq and war overseas rather then the big fuck the world ACTA going on.
this is it . TIME for someone to slap them in the real world. ALL this talk and no action is getitng you know wheres. JUST look at the USA version of the pirate party ...ITS A JOKE as is CANADA's

control is the primary thing, the MPAA and RIAA would just love it if they had full and secure control of when, where , how and who we enjoyed media with.
i am sure in their dream world having the guys/gals over for a movie night would be a violation of copyright law because you are letting non family view the DVD.
